Wow, I totally FAIL at challenges.  Note to self, don’t “sign up” for challenges, it is a sure fire way to fall off the blogging wagon! I really don’t have any good excuses, except for the fact that I was behind on the A-Z challenge, and every day I felt overwhelmed by either trying to catch up or admit failure.  There I admitted it, let the blogging begin again!

First, I want to sent out my thoughts and prayers to all impacted by the tornadoes that hit the south this week.  My cousin’s daughter Danielle(I guess that makes her my 2nd cousin) is a student at the Univ of Alabama.  She was in the library during the tornado, but I was nervous waiting for an update on Thursday that she (and her dog) were okay.

I am awake, watching the Royal Wedding.  I did not wake up just for the wedding, I have a few things on my mind that I am trying to work out this morning, so after about 4 hours of sleep, it now eludes me!

These are growing under my bedroom window and out in the little wooded area behind us, I think they are beautiful!

Thinking about an impromptu trip to Ocean City/ Assateague Island, Maryland for the weekend.  My ex-in laws live nearby, and we have reconnected through Facebook recently.  Tara’s grandfather (who she has not seen since she was an infant) is battling cancer, and I really feel the need to try and visit.  I think he might have been a major part of our 13 year estrangement from something my “mother in law” said in a conversation, but I have never had any ill will against any of the family.  We were just thrust into unfortunate circumstances.  Since Tara’s father passed last year, I have wanted to make the reconnection, and hopefully be able to put the past in the past.  Tara has three cousins close in age that she does not know. Even if it doesn’t work out to see them, it would be nice to get away!

I waited until the very last minute to do my taxes this year, and my return was direct deposited this morning!  Yeah!  This is the one time of the year that I really allow myself to splurge on myself.  Since my employment has changed it is not what it used to be, but enough to do a couple special things for myself.

First on my list, a point and shoot camera with a mega zoom.  I have my Canon xSi, but I need something that has a great zoom without changing lenses.  I have found that many concerts will allow you to bring in cameras as long as they don’t have a removable lens.  Since my child is TOTALLY into music, I figure it is a good investment to have an extra camera in my arsenal.  I’m thinking the Canon SX30IS.   We have two concerts this month to attend, Bruno Mars and Panic! at the Disco.

Tara and I watched “The Voice” the other night.  I really enjoyed the show.  I never got into “American Idol” until Tara became obsessed with Adam Lambert, and wanted to watch this season.

Our manager gave us a “treat”  yesterday during our “5 minute meeting”.  We are going to be selling Skinny Cow candy bars, and he wanted us to try them so if people asked if they were good we could give an opinion!  I had the Peanut Butter Heavenly Crisp…. it was very good!

I think spring might really be here.  We had unseasonably warm weather for a couple days this week, but now I think it is  moderating back to normal.  This is one reason I really want to try and get away for at least one night this weekend.  Being near the ocean is always a good thing and I have never been to Assateague Island, I would love to see the wild ponies.

There are many of these trees in the town in which I live.  I think they are some kind of cherry.  Whatever, they are gorgeous – pink an puffy!

It’s 5:46 and I am baking BROWNIES.  It is the birthday of one of the teenagers at work, and she works this evening, so I thought I’d bake a treat!

One hour later, and I am not done this post.  I get distracted so easy!  Almost time for Tara to get up, she is so mean in the morning.  I dread it every day!

Thanks A-Latte for stopping by!

  1. I hope your mind is at ease soon.I think seeing Tara get together with her never met cousins would be the "right thing" to do. The weather forecast for tomorrow sounds perfect. I hope you try.Hmm… a Canon SX30IS? I'm going to take a looks-see. :)

  2. Bleeding Hearts are beautiful flowers! I'm going to try and get some in my garden this year.I absolutely LOVE The Voice. So much better than American Idol. Blake and Adam are so funny with each other {they even keep it going on Twitter!}

  3. I love the flower photos. I'm sure spring is here now (FINALLY), even though I have yet to see a flower. Any day now…the forecast for this week says 50's each day!I am really, really, really hoping for a camera for Mother's Day. Now you have me wondering if I should stick with a point and shoot, since I like to take a variety, too….hm.
