Oh Say Can You See

It is Monday morning and I don’t work today! I always love having Monday off! I even slept in this morning, until NINE! That is three hours past when I normally get up – work day or not! Tara and I watched a movie last night and both hung out on our computers – bonding over technology!

July 4th, is just two days away. I know it’s not really the “middle” of summer, however I have always measured summer by the three holidays, Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. Tara will only have been out of school for three full weeks on the 4th with almost nine to go to that makes me feel better!

My mother celebrates her 88th birthday on the 4th. I will be working on the 4th. (Holiday pay, so can’t really complain!) We will celebrate at some point. I’ve said before, I quietly celebrate each day with her! I know I am blessed to still have my Mom!

This Land is Your Land – Bruce Springsteen

This is America – The Oak Ridge Boys (I can’t do a post about patriotic/American songs without including The Oak Ridge Boys)

The Star Spangled Banner – Josh Groban

God Bless America – Kate Smith (Being from Philly, this song sung by Kate Smith has an extra meaning – The Flyers’ record when “God Bless America” is played or sung in person stands at a remarkable 94 wins, 26 losses, and 4 ties as of April 26, 2011

  1. All excellent choices for today’s patriotic theme. This is one of my favorites. That good old fashion swell of national pride feels my entire being with each selection I’ve listened to. Let freedom rock n’ roll forever! Thanks for joining us again! ^.^

  2. I guess Kate Smith will always be number one with GOD BLESS AMERICA! Many of us like the same songs today! Thanks for playing along, and don’t forget to enter in our give-aways in celebration of our 100th wk together of Rockin’ & a Rollin’! You’ll find a rafflecopter for different prizes at each one of our co-conductor’s blogs and the Grand Prize at mine including another prize. So have a fun & safe fourth!
