For Today May 18th

Outside my window… cloudy, stormy last night, rain is forecasted for the next few days! YEAH.

I am thinking…I can’t believe my mom will be here in two days, and we will be moving in two weeks

From the learning rooms… working mainly on math skills, winding down the learning for the year.

I am thankful for… the rain we are getting!

From the kitchen… most likely the Wal-Mart Take and Bake pizza I picked up yesterday, but I do have ground turkey breast thawing to make another batch of chili.

I am wearing… jeans and a shirt from yesterday. I threw it on to take out the many bags of trash.

I am reading… Nothing, I have given up until after we get moved.

I am hoping… to get most of the odds and ends around the house packed in the next three days, so all my mom has to help me with is the kitchen and maybe wrapping some fragile stuff! (and that the cable tv is fixed soon, outage due to storms last night!)

I am creating… piles – pack, donate, trash. I donated my master bedroom furniture to the Rescue Mission last week!

I am praying… the next two weeks go smoothly, and that I can find a home for the two remaining pets that need to be placed!

Around the house… plain and simple, a mess. Boxes, and piles… but what can you expect when packing up a house?

One of my favorite things… a nice relaxing pedicure. I think I will make time for one this week

A few plans for the rest of the week… packing, packing & packing. picking up mom at the airport at 8:30pm on Wednesday.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…
Plumeria I have growing out back. It is blooming early and beautifully this year!

For Today May 11th, 2009

Outside my window…. Its sunny and hot. I’m late posting this today (1:30pm!)

I am thinking…. I better get myself ready to go down the street to watch the shuttle launch in 20 minutes!

From my imagination….Imaging how our new home will look. I’m moving into a flat that I have not seen in person. (Trusting my mom and my sister, as well as good friends!)

I am thankful for…. my wonderful mother!

From the kitchen…. I’m thinking a trip to Cracker Barrel, if not chicken thighs that are marinating in Hawaiian Marinade, with some couscous and asparagus.!

I am wearing….. black around the house only shorts, and purple chlorine spotted shirt (I was taking care of the pool a bit ago)!

I am reading…. Nothing. I give up until we get settled!

I am hoping….. I can continue the productivity from this morning the rest of the week. Spent 2 hours in the garage (can you say HOT). 1 garbage can, 2 trash bags, 1 big box of trash, and 3 bags of donations later, it was time to call it quits until another morning.

I am creating… a mess, because I am sorting, and packing, etc

I am hearing…. the TV.

One of my favorite things… keeping up with all my “Blog Friends”

A few plans for the rest of the week: Tuesday – the Tampa Aquarium, the rest of the week packing

A picture I am Sharing.… a collage of plants from the Farmer’s Market.

For Today… May 4th

Outside my window… a beautiful morning, leading up to another HOT day.

I am hearing… the ceiling fan and the morning news

From the learning rooms… math and reading

I am thankful for…the chance to “start over” by moving back home.

From the kitchen… there are left overs in the fridge… but I may come up with something new for tonight! Ground turkey breast and chicken thighs in the freezer. See my recipe below from the kitchen this past week.

I am wearing… blue shorts, T-shirt, bare feet with flop flops close by.

I am reading… still nothing I promised when I retired, I would find time to read every day, but I have not, unless reading tweets and blogs count! I need to find a quick “summer” read.

I am hoping… to get over my “paralysis” about packing and get two weeks worth of packing done in one week! Only 16 days until my mom arrives to help “finish” up…. which means I need to get STARTED

I am creating… a new home for our family in PA. A new family dynamic with Tara, my mom and myself. It’s been 6 years since we’ve lived together and we all have grown and changed!

I am praying… I can find good homes for the four beloved pets that we can no longer keep!

Around the house… clutter everywhere, I just don’t know where to start!

One of my favorite things… the early morning hours

A few plans for the rest of the week… SCHOOL, PACKING, EPCOT (today – least humind day of the week!)

A picture I would like to share – Cinco de Mayo is tomorrow!!! Tara at EPCOT Mexico in 2006. I love the Cinco de Mayo ears!

Simple Woman’s Daybook – 27 April 2009

From The Daily Grind

For Today 27 April 2009…

Outside my window… warm, dark and SMOKEY this early morning. There are brush fires burning all over Florida. Looks like it will be a nice day. We need rain, but none in forecast!

I am thinking… I can’t believe I have been retired for one month! It’s been a great month of spending quality time with my daughter, not distracted by work! Being a SAHM has been great.

From the learning rooms… going to the library, working on math, Tara’s going to be getting some German lessons via email from a blogger in Germany!

I am thankful for… the healthy of my family.

From the kitchen… After cleaning the kitchen this weekend, I vowed to not cook for the next five weeks until we move…. but I surely jest. I need to plan some meals, and get to the market!

I am wearing… blue shorts, t-shirts and barefeet.

I am reading… Still nothing. I really need to make time for a book!

I am hoping… for a productive week of decluttering. I made a small dent last week. Need to get out and get storage boxes and packing materials!

I am creating… working on some photo projects, trying to learn Photoshop!

Around the house… tidying up needs to be done. We “ran” and played all weekend!

One of my favorite things… quiet early mornings with a cup of coffee. This morning, is neither quiet (Tara is awake right now) and I have no CREAMER for my coffee!

A few plans for the rest of the week… library, decluttering/packing, etc. I want to take at least two more bags to Goodwill this week!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…our pool and “cool” giant rubber ducky! Tara is already spending time each day in the pool.

Outside my window… The sky is blue, but cloudy. Rain in the forecast for today. We need it, there is a 400 acre brush fire burning about 10 miles away. SMOKEY!

I am thinking Only six weeks until we move back to PA. I need to get moving around this house!

From the learning rooms… We will be doing some Earth Day stuff this week, and math, math, math

I am thankful for… my mom. She is such a strong woman. She has much more spunk than women 20 years younger! She is having lunch with a few friends from her graduating class of 1942! 67 YEARS ago!

From the kitchen… Chili. No menu planned this week.

I am wearing… black shorts, red shirt and flip flops

I am reading… still nothing. I see to spend my free time editing photos I take!
I am hoping… we get a good rain today.

I am creating… photography and blogging are my creative outlets these days. I am creating a plan for our new home in our head.

I am hearing… a celebrex commercial. All else is quiet.

Around the house… untidiness, still. The fact that I need to start to pack, declutter, etc has be slightly “paralyzed” right now. I need a plan…still working on that!

One of my favorite things…the first cup of morning coffee. Today mine was extra yummy.

A few plans for the rest of the week… School work, Disneynature Earth and possibly Animal Kingdom on Wednesday, CLEANING and PACKING.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you… taken at Magic Kingdom yesterday (4/19)

For Today… 13 April 2009

Outside my window… The sky is blue, some puffy white clouds and I can still see the moon over my shoulder. It is going to be a hot spring day with a chance of T-storms. We need rain so badly!

I am thinking I am ready for another week, and I need to get more accomplished around the house

From the learning rooms… Tara is going to start using a new online program to which I subscribed to supplement the books we are using. We need to concentrate more on math this week.

I am thankful for… the wonderful weekend Tara and I enjoyed.

From the kitchen… We did pretty well working with my planned menu last week, but we did slip and ate out a couple times! Tonight might be something as simple as fish sticks!

I am wearing… new navy blue shorts and t-shirt, and my cute and colorful flip flops.

I am reading… still nothing. Supposed to be reading Twilight with Tara, neither of us read last week!

I am hoping… for rain today, and that I can be more productive in the preparations for packing to move. I really need to start getting rid of stuff.

I am creating… I’m not creating much, with the exception of projects with my pictures. Tara on the other hand has been very creative this past week using Sculpey clay.

I am hearing… the Early Show and Oliver the Guinea Pig rustling in his cage. He is not happy with me, we are out of carrots.

Around the house… things are not as tidy and I had hoped, too much laundry to be folder and put away. On the other hand, the pool that was in need of attention last week is blue and sparkling now!

One of my favorite things…taking photos of our day to day adventures.

A few plans for the rest of the week… Oliver to the vet today, school, school, school and cleaning, cleaning, cleaning.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…

My girl at Downtown Disney yesterday.

For Today April 6, 2009

Outside my window…. it is still dark, but warm. Today is supposed to be a stormy day, staying in the 70s.

From the learning room – first day of homeschooling – Math will be fractions, science an introduction to plant biology, geography – Asia; Language Arts – quiet reading time and a journal topic on our “staycation” spring break.

I am thinking…. again, why am I up so early. I don’t HAVE to be up so early. Also thinking that I hope my paycheck arrives in the mail today. Not sure why they don’t just direct deposit a last paycheck like all the rest. Today is PAYDAY!

From my imagination…. I’ve been imagining how life will be in our new home that we secured on Friday, and being back home with family in just two months.

I am thankful for…. the opportunity I have to home school Tara for the next few weeks.

From the kitchen….I have planned a menu for the whole week! Scheduled for tonight is chili, but we might go with the chicken casserole that is on the menu for Friday. The order to me does not matter, it is just important I stick to the plan!

I am wearing….. black shorts, Ron Jon T-shirt. My trusty flip flops close by.

I am reading…. Today is the day that I WILL start Twilight. Tara and I will be reading together. I need to catch up with her.

I am hoping….. our first day of homeschooling is successful.

I am creating… memories with my photos. Photography (and subsequentially blogging) are my creative outlets.

I am hearing…. Daniel Craig in Quantum of Solace. Third time I have tried to watch. Generally I can multi-task and watch movies, but not this one! James Bond movies typically don’t hold my attention, I keep trying though!

One of my favorite things…. a McDs Sweet Tea.

A few plans for the rest of the week … Getting through the first week of homeschooling; Library today and post office today; maybe a movie, still have not see Return to Witch Mtn; one hour of cleaning/purging in preparation for packing a day.

For Today March 30, 2009

Outside my window…. it is still dark and warm. My first Monday as a retired woman.

I am thinking…. why the heck am I still up at 5am, when neither Tara nor I have to be up (oh yeah, I forgot… the DOGS)

From my imagination…. I still need to get busy putting some lesson plans together to start homeschooling on 4/6!

I am thankful for…. MOTRIN and my heat pack… they helped get me through a really rough weekend with a terrible terrible headache

From the kitchen…. This week I AM GOING TO COOK… too much take out, eating out, drive thru and delivery lately

I am wearing….. Grey yoga pants, t-shirt and flip flops.

I am reading…. Nothing, this is something else I plan on making time for every day.

I am hoping….. Tara sleeps in this morning

I am creating… nothing in particular, mostly working with my photos. Blogging is my creative outlet lately.

I am hearing…. the morning news, and it is very depressing – a wife shoots her husband, a son stabs his parents, a shooting in a NC nursing home killing 8 people. My prayers go out to all.

One of my favorite things…. a lazy Sunday

A few plans for the rest of the week hopefully lots of fun – we’ve talked about the Orlando Science Center, the Brevard County Planetarium, Tampa Aquarium, ceramins, movies, watching the sunrise at Cocoa, and the sunset on the gulf…. we will see how many we do in the next 7 days!

A picture I am Sharing.…
I took this photo last Monday in ECPOT – UK. I love the red flower against the color of the “cottage”. This little area of EPCOT is one of my favorites. I can imagine living in the quaint little village it depicts. Simple, quiet and peaceful.

and a close up of the bloom

For Today March 23, 2009

Outside my window…. the sun is setting, today was a mixture of rain (which we needed so badly) and sun, cool and breezy, a truly wonderful day!!

I am thinking…. it is FOR real, I am retiring in 4 DAYS. Life is going to be drastically different! Tara is “retiring” from real school too.

From my imagination…. nothing much. I need to get busy putting some lesson plans together to start homeschooling on 4/6!

I am thankful for…. the chance I had today to spend several hours alone at EPCOT. It is a treat for me to be out with my camera ALONE.

From the kitchen…. I had fried tomatoes and Tara had angel hair and red sauce…. need to come up with a menu for the week…

I am wearing….. Jeans, the shirt that I have on in my profile picture, and right now bare feet… my “dogs” are barking from walking around Epcot all day.

I am hoping….. I get a good nights sleep tonight….!

I am creating… I have lots of photo editing to do…
